*10 Minute Moments for Teens, Week 1: Jesus as a 12-Year-Old 0
The First written record of Jesus’ Words is when He was 12 years old. How cool is that?! Jesus Really did experience life as a teenager. And -interestingly- this first episode shows Jesus seeing things differently than his parents did. (I bet that’s happened to you at least once, huh?) But even though Jesus was a human 12-year-old in a tense moment with his parents, there are strong clues that this Jesus was no “regular kid.”
2 Minutes: Read
Clink on this Link and read from the Gospel of Luke 2:41-52 (Chapter 2, verses 41-52).
5 Minutes: Taking it in
Think about the following questions and how they might apply to your life.
- After reading Luke 2:41-52, what are some of the clues that Jesus was no “regular kid”?
- Verse 46 says Joseph and Mary found Jesus sitting among the religious teachers in the Temple. The teachers were amazed at his understanding and his answers. What do you think Jesus might have been talking about with them?
- Can you imagine being in Jesus’ shoes, sitting among a bunch of Church leaders who are amazed at your understanding and answers about the Bible? How do you think you would feel?
- When Jesus’ parents confronted him about where he’d been, Jesus replied, “Why were you searching for me? Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s House?” What do you think Jesus meant?
- Verse 51 says Mary kept these things in her heart, meaning that she kept them in her memory. What do you think Mary specifically “kept” in her heart about Jesus? Why do you think the verse mentions that?
3 Minutes: Hanging Out With God
- What is something about Jesus that you have stored or kept close to your heart?
- Is it something he has done or something he has said in Scripture that has been really meaningful to you?
- Spend a minute reflecting on a memory you have about Jesus, and then share it with God in Prayer.

Youth Ministry News 0
What a whirlwind of a month this has been! On November 5th, we made 50 Christmas Care-Packages for Soldiers overseas. Thank you to all who donated items and gave of their time to help out. On November 12th, 23 Jr. High Students and Chaperons attended the CYO W.I.N.D (Walking in New Directions) Jr. High Conference. Cooper Ray, the guest speaker, spoke about not being afraid to step out of your comfort zone and using your talents to bring others to Christ.
We had our Meijer Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt on November 16th. The teens split into two teams (guys vs. girls) and searched the aisles of Meijer to find as many items on their lists as they could while staying within budget. J The girls won! The two big Thanksgiving Baskets were donated to our Christian Service to be distributed. Thank you to all who helped!
The week before Thanksgiving, six of our teens embarked on a life changing faith journey to Indianapolis to attend
the National Catholic Youth Conference with over 23,000 other teens from around the nation. Here’s what they had to say about NCYC:
“NCYC was eye opening. The workshops were moving, very fun, and exciting. The dancing and singing was amazing. On this trip, I’ve never felt so alive in my faith. I wanna keep it going forever!” Amanda R.(12 grade)
“I have had many experiences in Youth Ministry events throughout my life, but NCYC was unlike any event I have been to. The joy of the animators, the enthusiasm of the speakers and the energy of the crowd was second to none. Never in my life have I been to an event where everyone can join together as one force in friendship and in prayer. The inspiration of NCYC has helped me grow in my faith as well as my character as a person. I now truly know what it means to be called to glory as we join together in faith and community to better the world.” Alex G. (12 Grade)
To be continued…
