Recycle!
A large yellow and green recycle dumpster has been placed on our property behind the social hall. Please recycle all of your old newspapers, magazines, office and school papers, shopping catalogs, mail, envelopes, folders, fax and copy paper, shredded paper (bagged), and phone books. Items NOT accepted are cereal/soda cartons, food wrap/containers, tissue products, plastic, glass, aluminum, or cardboard.
This program is free to parish. The “Paper Retriever” program will pay the parish, per pound, for the amount of recycled paper collected. The paper you recycle today may be the newspaper you read in just a few weeks…and again in two months…and again! That process is called full-circle recycling. Recycling saves energy, natural resources and preserves landfill space, while creating jobs and providing materials for manufacturers of new products. The money collected will benefit the OLOW Music Ministry, Media Ministry, and Youth Group.

Thank You!
I want to thank all the parents who attended the First Reconciliation Parent Meeting. I know how hard it can be to add one more event to our already busy schedules, so I really appreciate and applaud you for all that you do for your children’s faith formation. You are always in my prayers.
Halloween
Children do love to Trick – or – Treat, and to dress up, but what is a parent to teach their children about Halloween? Parents remember that this is a religious celebration! It is the evening before All Saints Day, when we celebrate Christ working in the lives of men and women whose life desire is to follow Christ. Teach your children that Christ is always with us!
Teach them about saints. Start out with ones that the children may already be familiar with, such as Mary the Mother of God, St. Nicholas, St. Patrick, St. Valentine, and St. Anthony. Then add saints that are less familiar…St. Therese the little flower, St. Monica, St. Frances of Assisi, and St. Jerome. For older children let them look for canonized saints that are not well known. For example, St. Zita, St. St. Antony Mary Claret, Archbishop Guido Maria Conforti, and Father Luigi Guanella. Don’t forget that November 1st is a Holy Day and all Catholics are called to attend Mass on that day.
The day after all Saints Day is All Souls Day. This is the day we remember our loved ones who have gone to heaven before us. It is a good time to pray that all the souls are joined with God in heaven, as we too hope to be someday.
