What is a Lector?

A lector is someone who proclaims the Word of God during Mass. This helps everyone hear and reflect on God’s Word.

The commentator, also a lector, reads the announcements before Mass and the Prayers of the Faithful. It’s a really special way to be involved in the service and help others connect with the readings.

Lector Formation, offered online by the Archdiocese of Detroit, is necessary before one can share their talents in this ministry.
